Things I love Thursday 02/03/2017

This week has been absolute chaos, one of those where I just haven't come up for air, so PhD research has taken a bit of a back seat which is annoying. I'm honestly so excited for next week, because I'm gonna hang out with my bezza Ruth Dalton on Monday, and just go to the gym and be in the office loads, and I love weeks where I get to just do nice routine things because I LOVE ROUTINE. However, despite being a bit all over the place, this week was a good week, so here's some shit I'm grateful for.

💘 Getting to spend some time with my little cat, who at the grand age of 18 is being put to sleep tomorrow. I'm kinda sad, but also feeling very pragmatic, and he truly has had the best life any cat could hope for. Anyway, I'm so thankful I got to hang out with him a bit whilst he was still comfortable 💘 PANCAKES 💘 Poppa Matchett giving me free reign of the beer fridge 💘 Getting accepted to give a paper at my first academic conference IN BLOODY MILAN 💘  Colour co-ordinating outfits with pets 💘 Laura Marling 💘 Being sassy 💘 Exciting business meetings ft. merlot 💘 The success and happiness of friends 💘 Gelatine free Haribo 💘 Doing some actual theatre directing for the first time in what feels like a lifetime 💘 Painting frenzies 💘 When my boyfriend and my boss conspire to give me a Saturday night off to go to a surprise gig 💘 Dog tour 2k17 💘 Planning many a visit to the big smoke 💘 Getting SO MANY exciting submissions for the first issue of The Agenbite! 💘 Bee-sting eye cream makes my eyes so plump 💘 When my supervisor calls me a superstar and it's like when the cool kids at school say you can sit with them 💘 Smashing through the Santa Clarita Diet 💘 Kicking the Kyriarchy 💘 Red dresses 💘 Religious iconography 💘Deidre Barlow glasses 💘 Snatched moments with my sister 💘

Swing it baby! Its been a crazy busy happy week. My new job is going great, I really like all the people I'm working with, and the job itself is really interesting, so I can't complain! I'm also juggling two rehearsal schedules with another one on the horizon, but the downtime I'm spending with great people is doubly great because of the busy I think. And as always, its the little things that bring the joy.

There aren't many things in life that make me want to squeal more than Salvador Dali's illustrations for Alice in Wonderland. I went to the Tate today and saw the Alice exhibition, including the Dalis, and it was just amazing, if you're in the city, do go! Its on until the 29th of this month. The original manuscripts were there, with Carroll's doodles and tea cups galore, photo-tricks from before the days of photoshop and some amazing Rosetti's. There's something so luxurious about going to a gallery and just being quiet, it made me feel so at peace.

This week, I really bloody love my friend Rebecca Cope. Becca directed a play I was in last year, and she's one of the most creatively intelligent people I know. Anyway, this week, Becca got mugged. This is really shitty. But, instead of doing the sensible thing and just handing over her stuff (which is absolutely what you ought to do), Becca got badass on that guy, there's just no other word for it. She refused to give up her stuff, and after a bit of a struggle when the guy won, she chased him down the street, yelling at him to give it back. To cut a long story short, the guy got caught and she got all her stuff back. So firsty, I love the fact that she takes no shit, and that she stuck up for herself, and was not afraid. Secondly, I love the fact that it worked out so well, because girl could have actually got hurt - silly, brave, wonderful girl!

Happy 2012 sugar! I hope its been great so far. For myself, I've taken the week off from blogging, slept lots, eaten too much and filled myself up with beautiful people and music and life. Today, my housemate and bezzie 4 lyf Ruth Dalton is graduating from her Masters Degree, and that my friends, is something I bloody love. I am very blessed when it comes to family and friends, in every aspect, but Ruth has never been surpassed in terms of trust, loyalty, giving, hilarity and love. She knows me better than anyone outside my family, and somehow she still likes me! I am so, so proud of her and what she's achieved (through what's been, lets face it, a pretty crappy year), she is my rock and my inspiration, and I JUST LOVE HER. But for the love of God, we just cannot take a nice photograph together.

Well hello there December! Only 25 days till Christmas you say?! (crapbestgetshopping). The obvious joy of the advent calendar need not be stated.

Something vaguely amusing that did happen this week was that my BT router broke (enthralling), so I had to phone the helpline, and the guy had to wait for his boss to confirm he could send me a new one, so we had to hold the phone for about half an hour. Of course, I'd had to give the guy my address, and when he found out I was in Liverpool he was so crazily excited, he didn't stop talking about Liverpool FC for the whole time. We really bonded. Then, after we had ended our cross continental chum-fest, within the next half hour about thirty guys from India started following me on twitter. Is that the kind of thing I should report? I mean, sure I was flattered, but whaaa?

Ahem. EDINBURGH EDINBURGH EDINBURGH EDINBURGH. This week was auditions for the LUDS production of Cagebirds, the play we're taking to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. And I got a part :) I am sooo grateful and excited and happy, its such an awesome group of people to work with, and I love the play, and I'm in love with the Director and AD, so its generally very pleasing!
